Des origines celtiques
Halloween draws its roots from Samhain (its ancestor) a festival over 2,500 years old. It marked the end of summer and the beginning of the dark season. The Celts believed that, on that evening, the world of the living and that of the dead came into contact, allowing spirits to return to Earth. To protect themselves, fires were lit, costumes were worn, and food was offered.
L’influence chrétienne
In the Middle Ages, the Church integrated Samhain into its religious calendar: November 1 became All Saints Day, and the eve, All Hallows Eve... which would later become Halloween.
L’essor moderne venu d’Amérique
In the 19th century, Irish immigrants brought their traditions to the United States. There, Halloween took on a more festive turn: costumes, pranks, and above all... the famous trick-or-treating. Since then, the celebration has returned to Europe, popularized by movies, schools, and of course... candy lovers!
Une tradition gourmande qui traverse les générations
Today, Halloween is celebrated worldwide. And as costumes evolve, one thing remains the same: the love of sweets! Candies, chocolates, little sweet surprises... it's the perfect time to indulge without feeling guilty.
